Understanding Qadr — Allah’s Decree
The Qur’an teaches that all things occur by the decree of Allah. His knowledge encompasses everything, and nothing happens except by His will.
“Indeed, all things We created with predestination.” — Qur’an 54:49
“And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it…” — Qur’an 6:59
📜 Everything Is Written
The Qur’an affirms that all events are recorded before they occur.
“No disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a register before We bring it into being…” — Qur’an 57:22
“Do you not know that Allah knows what is in the heaven and earth? Indeed, that is in a Record. Indeed that, for Allah, is easy.” — Qur’an 22:70
⚖️ Allah’s Will and Human Will
Nothing occurs except by Allah’s will, yet human beings are addressed and held accountable.
“And you do not will except that Allah wills. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.” — Qur’an 76:30
“Whoever wills — let him believe; and whoever wills — let him disbelieve…” — Qur’an 18:29
🌿 Provision and Decree
Sustenance and outcomes are decreed by Allah.
“And whoever fears Allah — He will make for him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah — then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a decree.” — Qur’an 65:2–3
🌍 No Soul Is Burdened Beyond Its Capacity
The Qur’an affirms justice within decree.
“Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear…” — Qur’an 2:286
🌌 The Unseen Belongs to Allah
Qadr is part of the unseen, known fully only to Allah.
“Say, ‘None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allah…’” — Qur’an 27:65
🌙 Laylat al-Qadr — The Night of Decree
The Qur’an describes a night in which decrees are set.
“Indeed, We sent it down during the Night of Decree.” — Qur’an 97:1
