According to the Qur’anic narrative, his people attempted to punish him by casting him into a blazing fire. This act symbolised the peak of their rejection and hostility towards the truth he proclaimed.
Yet Allah protected him in a miraculous way:
“We said, ‘O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham.’” — Quran (21:69)
The fire, which should have destroyed him, became a means of safety by the command of Allah. This moment illustrates an enduring message of the Qur’an: those who trust in Allah and stand firmly for truth are never abandoned by Him. It also highlights that divine power is above all natural laws and expectations.

Throughout his life Abraham travelled and migrated in obedience to Allah’s guidance. He left his homeland, his people, and all that was familiar to him, demonstrating complete trust in his Lord. His migrations were not merely physical journeys, but acts of spiritual devotion and submission.
One of the most significant events associated with him is the rebuilding of the Kaʿbah in Makkah, together with his son Ishmael (Ismāʿīl). This sacred structure was established as a house of pure monotheistic worship, dedicated solely to Allah.
As they raised the foundations of the sacred house, they prayed for acceptance from their Lord:
“Our Lord, accept this from us. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing.” — Quran (2:127)
Their humility in this moment is striking. Even while carrying out a command from Allah, they sought His acceptance, teaching believers the importance of sincerity in all acts of worship. Today, the Kaʿbah remains the central place of worship for Muslims across the world and the direction towards which believers pray.
